Our dedication...

Hope you’re well

By: Zong Xiong

On a scale of one to ten

I read your poems

And put on a grin

Though not heart filling

My head was stoned

You had me chillin’

Sipping on thoughts

Through your straw of poetry

I thought to myself

My, my what a poet

Til I read your biography

Of how you never married

That your father was abusive

And how deep you were buried

In remorse and sorrow

I can now see your thoughts

That is a rainy day… like tomorrow.

After reading through her biography and studying up on Ms. Rossetti, I’ve decided to write a poem dedicated to the poet. I want to show my sympathy towards her because it seems as if she was given the great gift of writing poetry and had everything else taken away from her.

For Ms. Rossetti

By Kaying Xiong

I receive your eyes but your message fails in bleak lies

This splintered silence frays our soul

As if stealing light on secrets that our heart’s stole

No comfort in this short distance

No more time for false princes

Loved ones sang these blunt tunes

Yet we wrestled against the helpful clues

So fighting became the feed

Oblivious to how much one could bleed

Some thoughts

Reading a lot of Christina’s poems can make a reader feel connected to the dark side almost. I was able to think about a lot of bad times that occurred to me and really put it down on paper. What was a real challenge was making sure I rhymed just as much as Christina did in her poems; my method was to know my next line and be the artist to mold the sentence the right way in order to have a certain ring to it.

 Happiness

by: Chee Her

It is never fair for those who just stare,

As you hope that someone will be right there,

To be with, to love, and believe,

The truth is that you are never true to me,

Regardless to what my beliefs are,

For you seem too far,

Even though we were once close together,

This is probably why we cannot stay together forever,

I hope you are happy because I don’t care,

About someone who can not make up their mind in life,

For I want some happiness in life,

So that I can fulfill my dreams I want to achieve.

My thoughts

I decided this poem to Christina Rossetti because of what she believes in, which was made who she was. I felt bad the fact that she was once in loved but was not able to tie the knot with the one she loved. I am sure that she had her reasons why she did the things that she did in her life. Granted in life everyone chooses their own paths in life and they make the mistake in doing it, but we are all humans who will have to learn and forgive.
